Country State Of Mind
(D) That hot old summer sun make ya (G) beg for your next (D) breath,
So ya best be on the creek bank a laid in the (A) shade.
(D) Chewin on a hickory twig, pass that (G) bottle and I’ll have me a
(D) swig, I ain’t got a lot but I (A) think I got it (D) made in the shade.

I’m just (G) laid up here in a country state of (D) mind, catching these fish like their going out of style and drinking this homemade (A) wine.
Hey, if the (D) sun don’t come out tomorrow, (G) people I have had a good  time, just (D) laid back here in a (A) country state of (D) mind.

(D) I bet the old mans in the kitchen, he’s got my kind of (G) music on the radio and he’s (D) drinkin’ his beer and dialing up the request (A) line.
Well, (D) mama and Oralee Jones are probably in the (G) dining room try’in to use the (D) phone and me, I’m thinkin’ about that (A) girl and later to-(D)-night.

(E) Well the hippies and the red necks are in their (A) discos and honkytonks, (E) somewhere between raisin’ hell and Amazing (B7) Grace.
Lord I (E) know how they feel, you gotta get (A) out and kick up your heels, and (E) ain’t it great to be (B7) livin’ in the US-(E)-A.
