That old rugged hill became a battle field

Where the world, for the souls of men, was fought

And as the battle raged

death Hell in the grave, they lost

The earth was black as midnight

And beneath the darken sky

Forsaken for a debt not his, our Lord was crucified

And through his bitter anguish he counted not the cost
